Located at the central- east region of Cuba, it is one of the biggest provinces with an extension of 15 900 km2.
The main city is called Camaguey, and it was one of the first villages founded by the Spanish conquers, in 1514 under the name of Santa Maria del Puerto Principe.
The sugar production has been traditionally one of the main industries, but the last years, the tourism has been growing and occupying a higher economic importance in this province.
Composed by13 municipalities, it is the third largest city in Cuba after Havana and Santiago de Cuba.
The territory has a diversified economy with strong agro-industrial production. Among this production it highlights the electricity, cement, fertilizer and the chemical, mechanical productions, beer, rum and soft drinks, dairy, sugar and others. There is a strong farming tradition, and sugar cane railway.

Cuban attraction

With a surface of 335 km2, it has more than 30 km of virgin beaches which are a paradise for nautical activities. There are also fresh water lagoons where you can admire the richness of the local fauna diversity, including a large colony of pink flamingos.
